Proficiency ladder (ACTFL-aligned)
L1 · Novice / Apprentice
Greetings, classroom words, routines — teaches supervised, level-1 content only.
L2 · Intermediate
Sustains classroom talk, simple narration — teaches up to L2.
L3 · Advanced
Discusses culture, abstract topics — teaches up to L3, mentors L1.
L4 · Master / Elder
Full fluency + cultural authority — Mentor-Apprentice master; certifies others.
